A photovoltaic module

A photovoltaic module is the basic component of a photovoltaic power station. The photovoltaic module is supposed to transfer solar energy into electrical energy in the form of direct current. From the electric viewpoint, a module is a serial system of single photovoltaic cells of a small capacity, made of a semiconductor, most often silicon.

Polycrystalline cell modules are characterised by the navy blue colour, which is obtained by applying an anti-reflective coating. It ensures the best optical properties and optimises the light absorption process. The manufacturing process itself, due to the type of the employed technology, always makes the cells assume the shape of a square or rectangle. Their efficiency is slightly lower than that of monocrystalline cells but their less complex manufacturing process makes them cheaper per Watt of the installed capacity in comparison to monocrystalline modules.

Module structure

A significant number of photovoltaic cells are made of two layers of properly added silicon, a ‘p’ (positive +) layer, and an ‘n’ (negative -) layer. When the cell surface is exposed to sunlight, voltage occurs between these two layers. Voltage on a single cell is not high (ca. 0.5 V). In order to obtain a higher capacity, cells are properly combined. Standard 250Wp panels are normally composed of 60 cells.

Tempered glass – with high mechanical resistance and increased resistance to surface temperature difference. Obtained by subjecting regular glass to appropriate heat treatment. High transmittance of glass with a low iron content, 3.2 mm thick;

EVA sheet – EVA is a polymer-based thermosetting sheet acting as binder for glass lamination. Before heating, EVA is a translucent sheet on both sides, which becomes transparent in the thermosetting process. Its properties remain stable even if exposed to changeable ambient conditions. High transparency. Good and stable adhesion to various materials. Ensures excellent resistance to heat, moisture, UV radiation and provides high reliability over long-term use with changeable conditions occurring in outdoor applications.

Combined cells – Voltage on a single cell is small (circa 0.5V). In order to obtain a greater capacity, cells are combined in an appropriate manner. Standard panels with capacity of 250Wp are usually composed of 60 cells.

PET sheet – PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) is widely used as a plastic serving for manufacturing various types of packaging. Advantages: strength, high rigidity, difficult ignitability, high impact strength, chemical resistance.

Frame – Anodised aluminium

Junction box – an IP65 electrical box, ‘+’ and ‘–‘wire stub-up and bypass diodes

Heavy-duty SmartPower modules by Caldoris, combined with high transmittance solar glass, ensure a very high performance of the entire photovoltaic installation, thus providing full comfort of use. They are resistant to snow, hail and winter load.
A special assembly system made of aluminium will not overload your roof and will ensure safety and endurance of the structure.

Our systems are precisely configured to ensure optimum operation of the whole system.
